Getting ready for our America trip: Waterproof Camera

As I have already mentioned, my husband and I are off to Florida for 10 days, child free! for our 10th wedding anniversary. One of the attractions we have booked and the one I am most looking forward to is Discovery Cove. We will be swimming with dolphins and tropical fish and relaxing on a lazy river, sun bathing on the beach. I honestly cannot wait!

But what I needed for the trip was a camera which could go in the water. We didn’t want to pay out for an expensive top branded camera, which would risk being stolen while we were there, we wanted a slightly cheaper version (but still good quality).

The NexGadget Action Camera is just what I needed, at ¬£36.99 it’s not a massive risk and yet the video resolution is amazing, it has a wide angle lens and comes with the waterproof case and accessories so we don’t even need to buy it seperately. It also came with a spare battery which is useful.

I have never used one of these cameras before (my husband has one for snowboarding but I’ve never been near it) and the instructions were so clear I got the hang of it right away. You can log on to the camera from your phone (viewing, taking photos and videos live from the phone if you wish) and can download your photos and videos directly to the phone, no faffing around with a computer (I did have to dumb down the resolution to save it to my phone though, the only the lowest resolution was allowed on my phone).

The camera has all functions you might want: single shot, video, loop record, web cam mode, timer photo and all for ¬£36.99. I’m really pleased with it!

Check out my video review here, and come back in July to see the video we take at Discovery Cove!

  1. Wow I can’t believe the price! We’re hoping to head to Florida later this year too. I have a go pro at the moment but it’s a few year’s old and I’ve been looking to upgrade – I’m going to look more into this range now (I really want a camera with a screen).
